My good friend J.D. Adamson, sister to Big John Wood, informed me that John was honored with Racemaster of the Year at the recent Firebird Awards Banquet. Outstanding, John! Congratulations!

"The 41st edition of the Firebird Award’s Banquet officially brought the 2008 NHRA Drag Racing Season to a close on Saturday night, November 22nd. One of the highlights of the evening was the 23rd presentation of the Racemaster award. John Wood, Nampa, was acknowledged for this very special Firebird Hall of Fame type award. Wood is the leader of the mighty Melba Outlaws club, the 12-time Silver Cup club champions."
