Let's Go Racin' Boys and Girls!

It was a cold head wind that greeted the Melba Outlaws at the Silver Club Challenge Season Opener. The excitement of the new season was dampened with some mishaps and the realization that Outlaws were dropping off at an alarming rate. Not to worry, Outlaws are nothing if not tenacious. It's going to be a long hard fought victory, but victory will come...

A great big group hug and support go out to Melanie Hodge after what could have been a real disaster as she crossed into the opposite lane clipping Matt Compton and hitting the wall. We are so glad you both are ok.

We would like to welcome some new Outlaws. I have not met all of them, but I hope to before too long:

Dan Cram, not an unknown to those of us who grew up with the Cram Family. He must have Outlaw blood running through his veins to win his bracket his first time with us! Congratulations Dan and welcome!

Judy Romano
, wife of Outlaw Joe Romano (1973 Dodge Challenger). Judy drove a 1968 Dodge Charger. Congratulations Judy on winning round 1 of your maiden voyage! Your excitement was contagious! We hope to see you in the Winner's Circle soon!

We would also like to welcome back some Outlaws:

David Maiden, after the flywheel flew apart and all but dismantled his 1968 Mercury Cougar during the 2007 racing season. So glad to see a full compliment of Maiden Boys again. They bring the word "competition" to a new level!

Rob Keys
, has been recouping from a serious 4-wheeler accident. We were very relieved to see him doing so well and back behind the wheel of his 1986 Ford Mustang. Rob has installed a new 377 ci small block Ford which has moved him into bracket 2.

Michaela Lewis
. So glad to see you out there again Michaela!

So glad to see all the Outlaws again. Next race is May 8th. Get ready to RUMBLE!!

Boogity Boogity Boogity!

The 2009 Racing Season Begins Tomorrow!

Last night was what has just about become an annual event for the Melba Outlaws, the Firebird Club Challenge Winners Pizza Party! It's always fun to start off the new season with a party to get the competitive juices flowing.

The 2008 Season was one of the most exciting I can remember as the points difference between the clubs was very close. Staying on top is going to be no easy task this year. You can bet it will take a full compliment of dedicated Outlaws to take the No. 1 title again. We are looking forward to seeing all of our friends and fellow drivers hungry and ready to race!

Awards Banquet

My good friend J.D. Adamson, sister to Big John Wood, informed me that John was honored with Racemaster of the Year at the recent Firebird Awards Banquet. Outstanding, John! Congratulations!

I excerpted this from Firebird's site:
"The 41st edition of the Firebird Award’s Banquet officially brought the 2008 NHRA Drag Racing Season to a close on Saturday night, November 22nd. Held in the ballroom of the DoubleTree Riverside in Boise, the banquet featured an evening packed with awards, which included upwards of $15,000 in cash and prizes.

One of the highlights of the evening was the 23rd presentation of the Racemaster award. John Wood, Nampa, was acknowledged for this very special Firebird Hall of Fame type award. Wood is the leader of the mighty Melba Outlaws club, the 12-time Silver Cup club champions."

Here's to all the Melba Outlaws an outstanding club...

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
